For students grade 5-8 Pay-what-you-can sliding scale of $100-$250 August 12-16 9:30AM-12:30PM
Students in ACW’s week-long Story Publishing Camp will explore the fundamentals of narrative (characters, plot, setting, and more) and draft an original multi-page creative writing piece with the help of YA author Rebecca Donnelly. Students will also learn the technical skills to produce polished works of prose as well as design, lay-out, print, copy, and bind their own original book! On Saturday, August 17, students will have the chance to “launch” their book, sign copies, and distribute them to the public at the Adirondack Family Book Festival at John Brown Farm in Lake Placid.
Hello Everyone! It is that time a year again:) My family has enjoyed this camp for the last 17 years! If you’d like to meet or zoom to learn more that can easily be arranged. Here is the basic information….
Homeschool Camp 2024
Dates: August 18th – 23th, 2024. (Sunday, August 18th (dinner time) through Friday, August 23rd (morning)
Cost: For the week will be $612/family (not person) plus a meal for everyone including staff and being a helper at an additional meal (or two). If you are new – I’d be delighted to help you with this and you will have a helper family that knows the kitchen working with your family. Foster children count as your family. Additional adult (often grandparent) costs $167 for the week.
Deposit: I am collecting a $100 deposit which is non-refundable to help the camp know the number of families that will be attending so they can determine the required staff. You may mail me your deposit: Tammy Neureuther 11 Carriagehouse Lane, West Chazy, NY 12992.
Interested or Questions: Contact Tammy Neureuther (home 518-563-7036 or cel 518-569-3327 or email tamneureuther@yahoo.com). We’d love to have you join the fun:)
This has been my children’s favorite week of the year for the last 17+ years!
Extra details: Sunday night’s pot luck dinner, on your own or we order pizza (everyone splits the cost). Last year, everyone was on their own. In addition, your family will be a helper at another meal. Depending on the number of families, I may ask everyone to contribute something towards a breakfast (box of cereal or gallon of milk) and help cleaning up for extra meals. In the past, people have been incredibly helpful so clean-up is pretty easy with all the hands at work. We will also be asking the kids and teenagers, and young adults, for help a little extra this year!
Activities (all included in the cost): Ø Pool with lifeguard – diving board, slide, and water toys Ø Horseback riding Ø Archery or Knife throwing Ø Ping Pong Ø Field – great for baseball, soccer, capture the flag, etc. Ø Small Sand Pit (little children liked it there!) Ø Volleyball/Sand area Ø Pavilion – pickle ball, tether ball, basketball, foosball, and more Ø Playground area Ø Motorboats with almost everything imaginable behind them (staff drives the boats and will teach you to water ski, knee board, tube etc) Ø Pontoon boat – love the rides to star watch at night Ø Boat Area – includes kayaks, canoes, paddle boats (this is open all day but we need an adult on land and everyone needs to sign the boats out) Ø Chapel time – lots of singing and time making beautiful memories
Other things you may want to know — · The kitchen is vegetarian; hence no meat – milk, eggs & dairy are fine. · You bring your own bedding, towels, etc. (beds and bunks are provide). I’ll let you know what beds/bunks you will have in your room before you go. · Every family supplies a meal – so food is mostly covered. You can put the food you bring in the main kitchen where there is a walk-in fridge and area to store food. (You may also want to bring extra snacks for your family in a plastic container if you store where you sleep or you can store anything you want in the kitchen – please label for food if you do not want anyone else using it) · In the past, due to allergies, we have only allowed peanut butter in the kitchen and asked that an adult makes the sandwich, then they watch the child while they eat it. Afterwards, please wash everyone’s hands. If you have other allergy concerns, or this policy is not acceptable, please notify me and we will work together to insure everyone is safe! · You may want to bring stuff for s’mores – they are a hit on nights we have a campfire! · Bring your favorite board game – kids love to play games together on rainy days or in the evening. · If you would like to organize a “class” or “meeting”, just let me know and we will add it to our schedule. In the past we have had photography, cake decorating, men prayer time, airplane challenge, “Olympics”, and homeschool sharing time to give you an idea. We have not done the extra classes since COVID (we have been a small group). · We often have talent night which is a great time – it’s optional; but fun to plan something for!
