Homeschool Drop-In Day at Lake Placid Library

From Lake Placid Public Library: Just a reminder that this week’s Homeschool Thursday, November 3rd is a Family Drop-In (10 a.m. – 2 p.m.) for help with book selection, research projects, STEAM ideas, topic-area stations, hands-on activities, etc. This session, our stations will focus on building and construction concepts. Also, please note that our next Homeschool Thursday 10:00 a.m. event, Building Bridges, will be on November 17th, instead of the last Thursday of the month due to Thanksgiving.

Homeschool Thursdays are geared for children in grades K-6, but other ages are welcome. Although not necessary, if you know you’ll be attending this week send us an email as it helps with set-up needs.  Free parking is available in the St. Eustace Church lot – just leave a note on your dashboard indicating you are at this library event. As always, happy reading!

Homeschool Drop-In at LP Library 10/6/22

Dear Homeschool Families,

Just a reminder that we’re hosting HOMESCHOOL THURSDAY drop-in hours between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. this week, so families can join us at their leisure. Since there are so many hands-on activities and concepts yet to explore from last week’s Flying Fun, we’ll gear this week’s stations to some we didn’t have time for, such as parachutes and rockets.

Homeschool Thursdays are geared for children in grades K-6, but other ages are welcome. Although not necessary, if you know you’ll be attending this week send us an email as it helps with materials and set-up needs.  If the paving project allows, free parking is available in the St. Eustace Church lot – just leave a note on your dashboard indicating you are at this library event. As always, happy reading!

Adirondack Center for Writing’s High School Writing Retreat at Paul Smith’s College

North Country students, teachers, teens, parents: mark your calendars… ACW’s annual High School Writing Retreat will take place Thursday, October 27 and Friday, October 28 from 9-3pm each day at Paul Smith’s College.

This two day retreat gives high schoolers the chance to see performances, to take workshops, to share their work on stage, and to work collaboratively on writing with other students from all over the North Country. Plus, they’ll be learning from three professional poets with many years of teaching and performance experience. It’s an unforgettable program for teen writers, and you don’t want to miss it!
