“Flying Fun” at Lake Placid Public Library 9/29/22

From the Lake Placid Public Library: Our first Homeschool event is Flying Fun, this Thursday, September 29th (10:00 a.m.). We’ll explore principles of flight, engineering, and innovation with a read-aloud, discussion, and some seriously fun hands-on activities. Homeschool Thursdays are geared for children in grades K-6, but other ages are welcome. Although not necessary, if you know you’ll be attending this week send us an email as it helps with materials and set-up needs.

Please note, free parking is available in the St. Eustace Church lot – just leave a note on your dashboard indicating you are at this library event. As always, happy reading!

Upcoming Youth Climate Summit Opportunities with the Wild Center

Elodie Linck, Youth Climate Coordinator at the Wild Center, reached out and invited homeschoolers to join the Youth Climate Summit. We already have one homeschool team going and there is room for one more homeschool team. You need an adult to lead the team and then up to five high school age team members. Any interest? Send a message to northcountryhomeschooling@gmail.com if you want to get a team together and we can coordinate together with Elodie.

Are you a teacher, educator or adult mentor who wants to bring your group of students to the Summit? Join us at The Wild Center for our annual ADK Youth Climate Summit on November 9-10, 2022.
The Summit offers informative plenary sessions and workshops for high school students to learn climate change, impacts, solutions and plan their own climate actions in a 2-day in-person experience.
Pre-registration opens on Monday, Sep 26, 2022.
Are you a high school student in the Tri-Lakes area and want to get involved with ADK Youth Climate Summit planning? The Wild Center’s Youth Climate Program is looking for more teens to join our summiteer team. Meetings happen on Sundays from 6-8pm starting on Sep 11. Pizza dinner provided!
