This October, the Adirondack Center for Writing will present the 21st annual High School Writing Retreat at Paul Smith’s College.

Register for one or two days of writing workshops, epic performances, new friends and fellow writers, and a meet & greet with our guest writers. It’s a unique and impactful experience to include on college applications. Open to any high school students and classes, including homeschool students. No experience necessary, and no fee to attend.

Lake Placid Olympic Museum Homeschool Day Oct 9 2025

The Lake Placid Olympic Museum, in partnership with the Lake Placid Public Library, is hosting a Winter Olympic-themed Homeschool Day Event on October 9, 2025! Students and their adults are invited to the Museum to explore the exhibits, peek into our archives, and meet Olympians Maddie Phaneuf and Josh Williamson. Sneak Peek of the Upcoming Adirondack Youth Climate Summit

The link below is a sneak peek of the registration page for The Wild Center’s annual Adirondack Youth Climate Summit to be held this year on November 5th and November 6th. (Registration opens 9/15). The summit is geared towards teens (and their parent typically attends as their teacher/mentor). It is a jam packed two days of workshops, speakers, touring the museum, good food, and networking with other climate conscious teens and mentors.

Lake Placid Library Homeschool Day Sept 18 2025

From the Lake Placid Public Library:

Dear Homeschool Families,

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year! We’re continuing our monthly Thursday sessions for homeschool families, beginning on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Creative engineer and fellow homeschooler, Oliver Halasz, will join us to explore Mouse Heroes through a read aloud, discussion, and extension activities. All children will leave with their own felted mouse hero.

Homeschool programs are geared for children in grades K-6, but other ages are welcome. To help with set-up and supply needs, please rsvp to librarian@lakeplacidlibrary.org or 518-523-3200. We look forward to learning with you and your child(ren) this year.

Wild Center Homeschool Days – Fall 2025

Tupper Lake – The Wild Center’s Homeschool Days this fall are September 19 and October 24, 2025. The themes will be Wild Engineering and Wild About Birds, respectively.

Underwater Wonders with Ausable Freshwater Center Aug 21 2025

This really is an ALL-AGES program from Ausable Freshwater Center and Lake Placid Public Library. Very fun and educational for adults and kids, alike.
