Is your homeschool student curious about nature? Do they enjoy spending time outside? If so, join ADK naturalists as we learn about ecosystem engineers at ADK’s Cascade Welcome Center. This series of hands-on, student-led, classes will take us in search of the engineers busy working and living in Adirondack forests and wetlands. Through games, crafts, and other activities students will learn about how certain plants and animals can alter their ecosystems to benefit themselves and other organisms. Along the way we will become engineers building our own community.
This program meets for three hours every other Monday in September, October, and November. All six dates are included in the program fee; a multi-child discount will automatically be applied after your first student is registered. Please make sure your student is prepared to spend the whole program outside. Parents and guardians are required to stay on site during the program and are encouraged to hike with us. Tag-alongs under the age of 5 are welcome as well however, parents and guardians are responsible for supervising them throughout the program. Tag-alongs under the age of 5 do not need a registration. Restrooms and wifi are available in the Welcome Center for the duration of the program.
Parents and guardians should plan on meeting with instructors at ADK’s Cascade Welcome Center at 9:30am, located at 4833 Cascade Rd, Lake Placid, NY 12946. The course will run until approximately 12:30pm.

Cosmic Explorers: Rocket Lab offers students an opportunity to explore model rocketry and learn about past and present achievements in the field of space science. This camp promotes learning through hands-on experimentation as campers build and then launch their own model rockets.
Help your child reach for the stars by enrolling them in this enriching and action-oriented summer program. As they build and launch their rockets, you’ll be amazed at how much they learn about physics, engineering, and design. Campers get to keep the rocket they build, so the learning and fun can continue long after the camp is over.
