“Chasing ChaGo” at Plattsburgh State

Area students are invited to attend Plattsburgh State’s Theatre Preview performance of Chasing ChaGo, Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 7:30pm. Suitable for all ages.

FREE admission for students on March 4! $3 for any accompanying adult.

Chasing ChaGo is devised theatrical piece based on the iconic Samuel Beckett play, WAITING FOR GODOT. The main characters, instead of ‘Waiting’, weave their way in the 21st century searching for ChaGo (Chasing Godot) a famed graffiti artist tagger, using available technology. The show will be rely heavily on comedy, music and movement telling this existential, absurdist tale.

Approximately 80 minutes in length. No intermission.

Full price show dates are Thurs to Sat. March 5 – March 7 at 7:30pm, and Sunday, March 8 at 2pm.

Pok-O-MacCready 02/28/2020

This Friday at Pok-O-MacCready, we will be participating in an Art In Nature course!

Departing the Poko-Queen at 10am, students and families will explore the beauty of art in the natural world. Students will learn how to take something from the ordinary world around them and turn it into something fun, beautiful and exciting! Everyone will return to the PQ around 12:00. Lunch will be available around 12:15. $8 per student, includes lunch. Parent/guardian lunch $3.

As of today, Monday the 24th, the weather channel is calling for a possibility of flurries or snow showers on Friday, with a high of 27. The Art In Nature course will take place outdoors a majority of the time, if not the entire block. Please dress accordingly. If there is heavy rain, our instructors are able to make indoor accommodations when necessary.

From 1:00 to 3:00pm, we will be offering Rock Climbing at our indoor rock climbing facility, The Crux. The Crux is a fantastic  challenge for any individual at any level. Students can choose to climb a wall or a specific route which may have additional challenges. $7 per climber, includes equipment.

Turn Right onto Reber Road, there will be signs for Pok-O-MacCready Summer Camps, Pok-O-MacCready Outdoor Education Center and The Crux Champlain Valley Climbing Center. Continue on Reber Road for one mile passing the sign for Camp PokoMoonshine and Turn Right at the Sign for Pok-O-MacCready Outdoor Education Center. There is a gravel parking area here with a gray building on the right-hand side with a wooden green “Office” sign. There will be signs directing everyone towards the large deck entrance for registration

CANCELED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE – Homeschool STEM Class at Lake Placid Public Library

This class is offered by the staff of the Lake Placid Public Library for homeschoolers. It will take place on the first and last Thursdays of each month at 10am. The first class will be a scavenger hunt of this fun, maze-like library, and the group will brainstorm about topics for subsequent classes.

Tupper Lake Rotary Youth Leadership Conference 03/23/2020 @ the Wild Center

This one day youth leadership conference at the Wild Center on March 23rd is open to grades 9-12 and any college student. The mission of Rotary is to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders. Several active duty and retired military service members will be presenting in hopes to broaden teens skill sets with some universal leadership tips and a variety of topics such as conflict resolution, verbal and non verbal communication, public speaking, art of saying no, how society has changed, benefits of education, travel, career broadening, networking, etc…. transportation to and from the event and lunch is provided.
