Homeschool XC Ski Day is on for Jan 15, 2020 at Van Ho!
We WILL be having homeschool ski day at Mt Van Hoevenberg on Wednesday, Jan 15 . The “Mini Loop” is open. It’s about a quarter-mile loop right near the main lodge and we’ll go around and around it, but it will be fun. And we’ll do improv in the main lodge after lunch, instead of Josie’s Cabin. Most likely the day will end sooner than last week. For more information about the weekly program: https://nch.home.blog/2019/12/04/2020-homeschool-xc-ski-days-at-mt-van-hoevenberg/
Pendragon’s 2020 Young Playwright Festival

Pendragon’s 2020 Young Playwright Festival Contest is underway! Pendragon Theatre is encouraging aspiring young playwrights from all school districts to take pen to paper and fingers to keyboard for the annual youth playwriting event open to all middle and high school-age students.
We are asking young playwrights to submit original, 10 minute long one-act plays and musicals based on the theme “Insider/Outsider.”
The winning playwrights will work with a creative team including directors, designers, and actors to develop and stage the scripts.
The Festival culminates in a full performance of the winning plays and a script-in-hand public reading of the runners-up on April 25 at 2 PM with a reception to follow.
We are offering educators free playwriting workshops. We will come to your classroom or you can come to us.
Entries should be a producible 10-minute play, up to 10 pages in length (no smaller than 10-point font) and require no more than 4 actors. Submissions longer than 10 pages of dialogue or that require more than 4 actors will be disqualified. Entry deadline is March 3, 2020.
All plays entered in the contest will be read by a panel of theatrical and literary judges. The judges will choose a first-prize and second-prize-winning play for both the middle-school and high school-age groups. The 2 first-prize plays will be fully performed at the Young Playwrights Festival in April, and the 2 second-prize plays will be read onstage. The authors of the first prize plays will be invited to participate in all aspects of the staging of their play, from auditions to final dress rehearsals. All students who submit a play will be invited to attend the festival.
Official rules, entry form, and more information can be found on our website https://www.pendragontheatre.org/playwrights-festival
